Garden Visits Covid Guidance


Is everywhere open?

Our gardens, will be open from March the 24th .The safety of our staff, volunteers and visitors remains our number one priority and we continue to follow government guidelines.

Following Prime Minister Boris Johnson's announcement around the easing of restrictions, we plan to open our Heritage Centre and Granary Coffee Shop from 17 May, as long as government guidance allows it.

Our café will be open for takeaways only.

Our shop will be closed and due to reopen late May.

Our online booking system is in place to ensure social distancing and we urge people to book ahead of their visit, whenever possible and definitely for our Easter and Plant Fair events

How are you cleaning the Welcome Centre and Toilets?

We have implemented enhanced cleaning regimes in line with government guidance.

Will children’s play area be open?

Our natural play area which encourages children to explore, allows for social distancing, will be open. Please check our web page before you visit and follow all signage on site and instructions from our Team.

Will there be hand sanitiser available?

We do have places with hand sanitiser available but you are strongly advised to bring your own.

Do I need to book?

We encourage all visitors to book before their visit, as this enables us to ensure social distancing is possible.

For those who are unable to book online you can call our booking team on 01905 345 213.

Will I have to print out my tickets or can I show them on my phone?

Visitors should show their tickets on their phone, and at some places they may be asked to share their name and booking number. To maintain social distancing, we’re asking visitors not to pass anything to our staff.

Do carers need to book a ticket?

Carers can continue to access the Gardens for free. Carers do still need to book a ticket for themselves, and the person they accompany will need a pre-booked ticket as well if you are pre booking your ticket.

Can I sell on my ticket?

Tickets are for your use only and are not available for resale. We will cancel tickets which we believe have been resold.

Can I cancel my booking?

If you need to change or cancel your booking please email . We cannot change or cancel bookings after 3pm the day before your timeslot, in any circumstance. Our terms and conditions at the time of booking state no refunds.

What can I expect from my visit?

Given the unprecedented circumstances, and in order to keep everyone safe, your visit to the Gardens will feel different from normal.Please always follow government advice on social distancing and mask wearing You may be asked to queue, follow a one-way system into admissions and leave as directed via a separate exit. It’s vital that you follow these instructions – they’re for everyone’s safety.

Do I need to wear a face covering?

Wearing a face covering is now mandatory for visitors in our Welcome Centre. Where necessary, staff will politely request that visitors wear one.

Are you using 2m or 1m+ social distancing?

We have planned the reopening around 2m social distancing to meet current government guidance which says to maintain 2m distancing where viable. We will be asking visitors to keep to this as they go round the Gardens. We want people to feel safe as they are welcomed back.

Can I bring my own food and drinks?

We would prefer that visitors do not bring their own food,we would like you to Support the Granary Café and their local suppliers. Please don't leave any litter behind.

Will there still be a charge for using disposable cups?

No. As some cafes and food outlets are still unable to accept re-usable cups we will not be adding the additional 5p charge for the use of disposable takeaway cups.


Will the shop be open?

Shops in England, Wales and Northern Ireland is currently closed as we are unable to comply with the government guidance for making Shops safe.

Help us to support local businesses and buy your snacks, cakes and drinks from the Granary Coffee Shop, they are totally delicious made by our very own chefs Zoe and Garry with locally sourced quality ingredients.

We would like you not to bring your own Picnics into the Gardens.
