Spetchley Park Gardens is pleased to announce they are now holding educational visits for schools in the Gardens. Focusing on different elements within the Gardens our new activity programme for primary schools has been tailored to several aspects in the national curriculum.

Workshops are designed to engage students with a variety of topics (please see below for more information) which can be found within the Gardens. Activities are based in the Gardens and at our new Learning Centre.

Each programme will be led by the Learning Team. For terms and conditions please see our Information Pack below.

Though workshops are generally focused around primary schools, we also welcome secondary schools and higher learning institutions who wish to plan their own visit.

Learning in the Gardens

Suitable for Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2

Filled with various beautiful plants, flowers and trees the Garden at Spetchley Park is a wondrous mix of colour and vibrancy. Focusing on the seasons students are encouraged to identify plants, flowers and trees and engage with their environment to solve mathematical questions.

Please see our Teachers Pack for more information.

Spetchley’s Hidden History

Suitable for Key Stage 2

Spetchley’s history with the Berkeley family spans over 400 years. Starting at its initial purchase during the Tudor period, students will learn about the massive changes that affected Spetchley during the Battle of Worcester and the Victorian period. Finally students will learn about the impact that World War II had on Spetchley and its links to Winston Churchill.

Please see our Teachers Pack for more information.

Potting Plants

Suitable for Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2

Following a quick question and answer session about the lifecycle of plants, students are then invited to pot their own plants to take a piece of Spetchley home with them. All equipment is supplied including gardening gloves. Students can then add a Spetchley Flag with their name on to identity their own plant pot which can be taken home to their garden or a school garden plot.

Please see our Teachers Pack for more information.
